    Description

    From Folgers Coffee History......."coffee demand increased during WWII, but because of severe metal shortages, we had to improvise on packaging.  Steel was not available, so Folgers coffee was packaged in glass jars with waxed cardboard lids."
    This vintage coffee jar is from the 1940's with a copyright date shown as 1940 on the label.  The cardboard lid is in remarkably good condition with a 3/4" scrape on the top which can be seen in the photos. No wax survived the 80+ years. The only flaw of concern on the label is the small tear above the word "regular".  Jar is "as found", complete with original dirt. It's been stored in my own home since the late 1970's when I found it in an outbuilding at my friend's log house, along with several other coffee jars. This is a One Pound Net jar.
