    Description

Up for sale, an antique violin labeled Joseph Kloz Mittenwald 1774 - Made in Czechoslovakia.  This instrument looks to be of fairly good quality, it has a great looking one piece back.  Unfortunately, somewhere along the way someone elected to refinish the instrument - removing the original varnish which would have been a dark reddish color.  I expect that decision has killed the majority of the value here.  That aside, I think this will be a good quality instrument for an intermediate player.  Perhaps it can be restored to something resembling its original self.  The bow is not marked but appears of fairly good quality - the hair is fraying and it will need repair shortly.  There is an additional bridge in the case.
The case is of modern manufacture.  The body measures approx. 14" in length.  The wood appears in rather good condition (excusing the finish issue), I don't see any repairs or visible damage.
I'm definitely not a violin expert but presume this is a Czech made copy of a Joseph Kloz instrument.  I have no clue when it was in fact built though I'd presume 100 years later than the label might suggest.
