    Description

Offered here at Auction is a 1787 dated New Jersey Copper Cent.  I attribute this coin as a Maris 64-U, with a W-5390 designation by Q. David Bowers in his Colonial and Early American Coins attribution guide book.  This coin has moderately granular surfaces, with some pitting in places.  The date is strongly visible, with all digits perfectly clear.  I see a planchet crack, appearing to be as made when it left the minting process.  Then, I see a rim scrape at about 6:30 o'clock below the shield.   Check out the photos and bid it like you see it.   Q. David Bowers lists this coin a URS-7 in scarcity, or in his analysis 33-64 pieces known to exist.
